AZERBAIJAN & GEORGIA

Land of Fire Discovery - Caspian sea to Black sea

Explore the mystical lands of Azerbaijan and Georgia, where Asia meets Europe with some hidden Soviet influences, to spice things up.

Offering a mixture of  ancient and modern,  we first delve deep into the magical heritage, scenic wonder and epicurean delights that is Azerbaijan. Also known as the Land of Fire, due to its famous flaming mountains alight with underground gasses, and “fire worshippers”  temples, this is a country rapidly transforming itself as a popular tourism, arts and cultural and foodie hub in Eastern Europe. The cosmopolitan capital Baku, located on the oil rich Caspian Sea, is a spectacular example of dazzling 21st century architecture  mixed seamlessly with a stunning Unesco listed ancient centre then topped off by the warm hospitality of its people. Further inland, we explore timeless mountain villages and ancient palaces, backed by the majestic Caucasus mountains.  We learn the art of local handicrafts and carpet weaving, travel along ancient trade routes, stay in historic hotels, palaces or Caravanserai and taste the delicious cuisine and traditional recipes of the fascinating Azeri people.

Georgia, long hidden behind the iron Curtain, today has emerged like a butterfly as a welcoming country that exudes a magic that few travellers can resist. Crossing over the boarder, we explore its ancient churches and fortresses backed  by soaring mountains, cosmopolitan cities and the green valleys of vineyards, considered to be the birthplace of wine.  Georgia is truly one of the hidden gems on earth, where its people believe hospitality is life itself.
